Backpack Program

In 2010 Lafayette Breakfast Optimist Club, in partnership with the Battle Ground Lions Club, began sponsoring 24 students, identified by the Battle Ground Elementary School administration, by purchasing and supplying food from the Food Pantry for the Backpack Program. Members of the Optimist and Lions Clubs alternate months and share responsibility for unloading the truck from Food Finders, sorting and storing the food, and packing backpack each week of the school year so that the 24 students can take home nutritious foods each weekend.
